Hello Beetle friends and hello to everybody else watching! Today I’m going to do an unboxing of “1964: Eyes of the Storm,” the new book from Paul McCartney about the days of Beatlemania in 1964. I ordered this book off the Barnes & Noble website as soon as it was announced and I received it a few days ago. I’m going to open the book and show you the book itself, skimming through as many pages as I can to give you an idea of what it looks like.
But before I open the book, let me show you the front and back. Here’s the front of the book with the wraparound cover. Now, let’s carefully remove the plastic and take a look inside.
The book begins with a dedication to Paul’s wife, children, grandchildren, and his friends. There’s also a quote from Paul himself. The introduction, titled “Beetle Land: The World in 1964,” is written by Jill Lapor and features quotes from interviews with the Beatles from that time.
The book is filled with photographs taken during the height of Beatlemania. The first section showcases photos taken in Liverpool and the next section features photos taken in London. There’s also a section dedicated to photos taken in Paris before the Beatles landed in America.
The pivotal moment in their career is captured in the New York section, with photographs taken during their first visit to America. The book also includes photos from the Ed Sullivan Show rehearsals, their time in Washington DC, and their second appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in Miami.
