Book Box Guesses: February 2019

It’s no secret that I’m a book box lover. Part of the fun is trying to guess the upcoming month’s books (even if I don’t subscribe). Here’s a round up of what I think will be in the upcoming month’s boxes. I’ll update this post as new themes are revealed.

If you like playing along, drop your guesses in the comments and I’ll add them to the post!

We’re so happy to finally reveal the epic theme for February and it is… BEAST & BEAUTY! 🥀 This theme is a little different to anything we’ve done in the past, because everything in here will be inspired by Beauty and the Beast! We’re so excited about this theme and cannot wait for you guys to see all of the items we’ve curated for you. 🥀 The book of the month is a modern Beauty and the Beast retelling that we haven’t been able to stop thinking about since we read it. It’s one of the best Beauty and the Beast retellings we’ve ever read, and it puts such a unique spin on this classic tale. 🥀 The edition we will be featuring is a FairyLoot exclusive as it will be hardcover (the standard UK edition is paperback) and will have a silky ribbon bookmark attached to it. We don’t want to give away too much about this edition, but it is absolutely stunning and it may or may not be covered in holographic foil. 😉 It will also come with a rose-shaped bookplate signed by the author and an author letter with beautiful character art on the reverse. 🥀 We aren’t going to reveal much more yet, but this box is going to include some gorgeous items that we have never ever included in any previous box before and one of those is going to be a WALL TAPESTRY! We absolutely cannot wait for you guys to receive this box. 🥀 We hope you are as excited as we are about this box! Boxes are AVAILABLE NOW on our website – stay tuned for more supplier reveals on social media! 🥀 Theme art by Official FairyLoot Artist @taratjah #FairyLoot #bookish #booknerd #bookbox #bookstagram #subscriptionbox

🎉🎉 FEBRUARY THEME REVEAL TIME!! . The theme of our February box is DANGEROUS ILLUSIONS. The featured book is a lush historical fantasy filled with dark magic, tender romance, and enough intrigue to keep you flipping pages past your bedtime. I love this book so hard, you guys. . The monthly candle is absolutely fantastic and yummy smelling, and the pin is one of my favorites yet! . Story time: a year ago, when I was brainstorming and writing goals and plans for Second Star Books, one thing I wrote down and circled was "Transparency." I started this company with the promise to always be open with y'all. . Which is why I'll openly say: I know this book is going to be in other boxes in February. Like, several others. Because it is amazing, so everyone wants to use it. I also know it makes it harder for y'all to decide what boxes to get when we use the same books. Sorry about that! And, if you do decide to get our box, thank you. It's really flattering when someone buys my box out of the sea of amazing boxes available. . I first got the ARC for this book last summer, and I purposely DIDN'T read it because I was sure many other boxes would use it, and I try to share books that are maybe less on your radar already, ya know? So I read other potential books for February instead. . I liked a few of them, but I didn't love any. And I really want to LOVE the books I send you. So, finally, I picked up this book. I hadn't even finished the first (short) chapter when I knew this was the book I had to send. It sucked me in immediately and wouldn't let go. The writing is beautiful and the story captivating. . I can't want for y'all to read it. . Subscriptions are available on our website NOW. (One-time boxes will be added back in soon…they got caught up in our system during the software switch.) If you are already a subscriber, your subscriptions will renew on January 15th. . . . . . #secondstarbooks #themereveal #bookbox #bookishcandles

Unicorn Crate: The Cerulean

View this post on Instagram

THEME REVEAL: The February Unicorn Crate theme is CELESTIAL. 🌌 I’m so excited for this one! The window for February-start subscription sign-ups will begin on Friday, January 4th, 2019 (single purchase will go on sale that day too). . . ⭐ The title featured in the February boxes is a new hardcover epic YA fantasy (the first in a duology) by a #1 New York Times bestselling author. Like many books I choose for Unicorn Crate, I think this title can be enjoyed by both young adults and adults. The author has crafted a dark, mysterious, and spectacular world full of cloud-spun dresses, and female-led societies, beautifully nuanced characters and warring countries / worlds. It explores the notion that even utopias are flawed and finding magic within to survive. This book has all the sparkly night sky feels, and what better time to be introspective and look to the stars than on a cold mid-winter’s night, curled up with a book and a warm blanket? Publishers suggest this title is perfect for fans of Snow Like Ashes, These Broken Stars, and Magonia. Ages 14+ . . ⭐ The Celestial box is a bit different from anything I’ve done before because it is all about moons and stars, constellations, and stardust, not fandoms. So you if you love all things starry then this is not a box to miss! . . ⭐ SNEAK PEEK: There will be a scarf in this box! There was such a positive response from the fox scarf back in October that I’ve decided to have another infinity scarf made for you guys – and you guessed it, it has moons and stars printed all over it! *scarf will likely be in large box only, not small box. . . ⭐ Smaller box option will be available again for February, still only available as a one-time delivery (if you want this to be offered as a subscription, please add your name to the wait list). The small box will contain the book, signed bookplate and note from the author, bookmark, and 1-2 quality exclusive items. $23 + shipping. *The book and item/s in this box will also be in the regular size box (if you buy both, you will have overlap). . . . . #unicorncrate #bookbox #subscriptionbox #booksubscriptionbox #yafantasy #yabooks #celestial #bookstagram #yabookstagram #stardust

    1. It really depends on the box. There have been some boxes I’ve been disappointed by. Others I’m consistently happy with (Owlcrate!). The biggest trick is to purchase a box when you’re interested in the theme/book. That’s why I’m so happy that the boxes give theme announcements so I can figure out if the box is for me that month. If you’d like book box recommendations, let me know!
