Disney Princess and Young Adult Book Pairings

In addition to being a huge YA book fan, I’m also a big Disney fan. I decided to pair up some of our favorite Princesses with some young adult books they may enjoy.

Ariel
The obvious choice: To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
The not-so-obvious choice: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor [Forbidden romance between two ‘species’? I think that might keep Ariel hooked.]

Belle
The obvious choice: A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
The not-so-obvious choice: Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson [Elizabeth is raised in a LIBRARY. I’m sure Elizabeth and Belle would get along well and have much to talk about.]

Cinderella
The obvious choice: Cinder by Marissa Meyer
The not-so-obvious choice: The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen [Kelsea only learned that she was a princess on her 19th birthday. I think Cinderella would enjoy Kelsea’s journey to finding her place as a leader.]

Jasmine
The obvious choice: The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
The not-so-obvious choice: The Seven Realms Series by Cinda Williams Chima [Jasmine would enjoy Raisa’s journey of wanting to see more than the castle and marry for love.]

Merida
The obvious choice: Fire by Kristin Cashore
The not-so-obvious choice: The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli [I’m sure Merida would love the idea of being able to gain her own freedom.]

Mulan
The obvious choice: Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh
The not-so-obvious choice: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir [Laia goes undercover to save a family member. I think Mulan could relate to this.]

What books would you pair with these princesses?

  1. I love it when people use The Seven Realms. They’re so good and people be sleeping on em! I think all of these are great choices! What a cool idea.
