Review: Avatar: The Last Airbender Official Cookbook – A Culinary Journey through the Four Nations

“Hello cookbook friends and welcome to the Cookbook Divas Youtube channel! My name is Katie and today I’m really excited to check out the Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Official Cookbook, written by Jenny Dorsey. This cookbook is filled with recipes inspired by the four nations in the show. If you’re an Avatar geek like me, this is perfect for you!

One of the amazing things about this book is that almost every recipe is referenced in the show, either made or mentioned. You’ll find so many recipes that are actually featured in the show. The book is beautifully illustrated with stunning photography throughout.

The cookbook is organized into different sections, each color-coordinated to match the respective nation. The first chapter focuses on the yellow-themed recipes of the Air Nomads. They have a mostly vegetarian section, featuring dishes like Mung Bean and Tofu Curry. Each recipe includes a list of ingredients and clear instructions, with references to the show.

Moving on, we have the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, and the Fire Nation. I’m particularly excited about Uncle Iro’s Jasmine Tea Shop recipes, as there are all these unique teas featured in there. I haven’t had the chance to try any recipes yet, but I’m especially looking forward to the spicy dishes from the Fire Nation.

The cookbook also includes a variety of cute and fun recipes, like Appa’s Apple Salad, Aang’s Favorite Egg Tarts, and Momo’s Moon Peaches. It’s perfect for bringing friends together for themed dinners based on each nation.

The Water Tribe recipes showcase dishes like Saka’s Salmon Jerky and Fresh Fish Balls on a Stick. The Earth Kingdom section offers recipes such as Freedom Fighters Roast Pork Belly and Uncle Iro’s Jook. I’m particularly drawn to the Charred Cabbage Noodles, which look both delicious and healthy.

Uncle Iro’s Tea Shop section provides recipes for various teas, including Jasmine Green Tea. The recipes are listed on the menu itself, making it a fun project to create your own tea blends. In the Fire Nation section, we have flavorful dishes like Komodo Chicken and Roku-Style Flaming Hot Chicken Skewers. And let’s not forget about the Fire Gummies, which are strawberry and jalapeno-flavored mochi balls.

Overall, the Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Official Cookbook is a must-have for fans of the show and cooking enthusiasts. It’s filled with unique dishes and references that will bring the world of Avatar to your kitchen. I highly recommend checking out this cookbook!
