Battle Drum by Saara El-Arifi
Battle Drum is the second installment in the Ending Fire Trilogy, an imaginative fantasy series that draws inspiration from the rich myths and legends of Africa and Arabia. In this book, we follow the journey of three remarkable women – Anoor, Sylah, and Hassa – as they embark on a quest to uncover the hidden truths of their empire’s history and expose the heinous acts committed in both the distant and recent past.
As the echoes of change reverberate across the world, these resilient heroines find themselves faced with difficult choices and the responsibility of protecting both their homeland and their own fragile hearts. The arrival of the Child of Fire, bearing the Battle Drum, signals an impending war that will test their mettle and shake the very foundations of their existence.
Del Rey Books, in collaboration with gifted author Saara El-Arifi, presents an enthralling tale of mystery, betrayal, and self-sacrifice. With its captivating narrative and carefully crafted hardcover binding, Battle Drum is a must-read for avid fans of fantasy and science fiction.
The Final Strife & The Battle Drum: A Slow-Burning Adventure in a Fantastical World
Welcome to one of my Vlogs where I’ll be discussing the books I plan to read. In this Vlog, I’ll be talking about two books I recently acquired: “The Final Strife” and “The Battle Drum.” These books are part of a series, and while I don’t know much about the plot, I’m intrigued by their unique qualities. Both books have beautiful sprayed edges, and one of them is even signed by the author. The story revolves around a set of Trials called the Actorbar, which are held every ten years to determine the next Ember rulers of the Empire. The main character, Sila, is destined to participate in the Trials and become the Warden of Strength. However, her dreams are shattered when her adopted family is brutally murdered. As the Trials approach, Sila must decide whether she will rule the Empire or seek its destruction. Although I’m not sure if I’m in the right mood to read these kinds of books at the moment, I’m still intrigued and plan to start reading them soon. I’ll be updating my progress in future Vlogs, so stay tuned. Now, let’s move on to my reading update. I’m currently halfway through another book, and I’ve been enjoying the slow-paced, informative style of the story. The book introduces a society divided into three blood types: red, blue, and clear. Each blood type represents a different social class, and the story focuses on a resistance group called the Sandstone. The Sandstone had stolen and exchanged babies from the Ember houses, which were homes for the red-blooded elites. These stolen blue-blooded babies were raised by the resistance group to eventually infiltrate and overthrow the Empire from within. However, six years ago, most of them were killed, except for the main character, Sila. Sila is now struggling with addiction and meets Anore, the Warden of Strength’s daughter, who tries to teach her blood tracing in exchange for combat training. The story explores the complex government system and the mystery behind Sila’s survival. While there are many minor details and characters that I haven’t discussed, I’m thoroughly enjoying the book so far and eagerly looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. That’s all for now, thank you for watching, and I’ll see you next time. Take care!
