7 Habits for Getting Your Life Together in Your 20s

Today, I want to discuss the habits that have helped me get my life together in my 20s. Looking back from ages 15 to 25, I was clueless and focused on the wrong things. In my early years, I was addicted to video games, while in my early 20s, I prioritized partying and unhealthy behavior. However, in the second half of my 20s, I made significant improvements in my life. I turned my passion into a successful business, got my finances in order, built a strong relationship, and worked on my physical fitness. These positive changes were a result of implementing consistent habits.

The first habit that transformed my life was abstaining from pornography and masturbation. While this may not be a comfortable topic to discuss, it is important. Pornography has a detrimental impact on the brain and drains motivation and energy. It desensitizes individuals to normal sexual experiences and creates a vicious cycle that is difficult to break. Many men struggle with pornography addiction, and there are communities that offer support. It is worth exploring the research and videos on the subject.

The second habit is setting clear goals. In my early years, I had aspirations but no plan to achieve them. I followed the traditional path of education and a stable job, assuming everything would fall into place. However, I realized that I was pursuing someone else’s dream and not my own. Now, I live an intentional life and set clear goals. I divide them into long-term, medium-term, and short-term goals across different categories such as health, relationships, career, and finances. Writing down my goals and visualizing them has been a powerful tool in achieving them.

The third habit is taking massive action. Visualization and manifestation are important, but they must be accompanied by aggressive movement towards the goals. Making significant changes in behavior is necessary for creating a fulfilling life. Hard work and dedication are key to achieving success and progress in any area. Pursuing something enjoyable and fulfilling is essential to avoid burnout.

The fourth habit is working out. It is a commonly heard piece of advice, but it is crucial for both physical and mental well-being. Regular exercise not only improves physical health but also enhances mindset, discipline, and motivation. Building the habit of working out has had a positive impact on all areas of my life.

Habit number five contradicts the typical advice in personal development. Waking up at 5 am and following a meticulously optimized morning routine may work for some, but it does not suit everyone. Each individual has a unique biological clock, and it is important to be in tune with it. Forcing yourself into a morning routine that does not align with your natural rhythm can be counterproductive. Living according to your own sleep-wake cycle allows you to feel and function at your best.

The sixth habit is delaying gratification. Rather than seeking instant pleasure, it is important to make decisions that will benefit future you. The concept of the “rocking chair version” of yourself helps in making choices that your future self will be proud of. Although indulging in small pleasures is necessary, focusing on delayed gratification improves long-term fulfillment.

The seventh habit is extreme accountability. Shifting from a victim mindset to taking full responsibility for one’s life is crucial for personal growth. Blaming external factors keeps us from realizing our potential. Taking extreme accountability allows us to see the power we hold to change our lives for the better. Even when things are not our fault, taking responsibility empowers us to make a difference.

These seven habits have significantly contributed to getting my life together in my 20s. They are a combination of luck, hard work, skill, and focus. Although everyone’s journey is different, implementing these habits can be beneficial. By incorporating these habits into your life, you can experience positive changes and personal growth. Remember, it is never too late to start.
