Hi there folks, welcome back to Rule of Thumb. Sorry for the lack of articles lately, but as I mentioned before, we have been busy preparing for a move. We’ve been dealing with the rental agency and getting everything finalized. We’re about to start moving next week, but I wanted to take a moment to touch base and see how everyone is doing. Today, I wanted to do a quick segment called “Cookbook Corner” and talk about a book I found at a used bookstore.
The book we’re going to discuss is called “Breaking Bread with Father Dominic” by Father Dominic Garamone. He is a monk at St. Bede Abbey in Peru, a small town in northern Illinois. This book, published in 1999, was inspired by Father Dominic’s public television program of the same name.
The book begins with an introduction to Father Dominic’s life, which is quite fascinating. It then delves into the basics of bread baking. From there, it is divided into various sections, including basic breads, from breakfast to dessert, veggie breads, sourdough breads, ethnic breads, specialty breads, and pizza plus.
