I’m a Big Brother: Nico’s Journey into Siblinghood
A warm welcome to everyone and welcome back to Pascal’s Story Time! Today’s reading is a special one for a little boy who has recently become a big brother. Nico, this story is for you.
I’m a Big Brother
Written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Rosalinda Kitely, this heartwarming story introduces us to someone new in the family. Can you guess who it is? That’s right, it’s our baby!
I am a big brother now, and the baby is so little. Still too tiny to walk, talk, or even play with toys. Our baby can’t enjoy pizza, apples, or ice cream just yet. But babies do have their own preferences. They love to drink milk and snuggle up in warm and cozy blankets.
Our baby loves to look at me, his big brother. I proudly say, “Look at me, baby. I’m your big brother!”
Of course, before I can hold our baby, I must ask mommy for permission. Once I have her approval, I handle the baby with care. I even sing a gentle baby song to make them feel comfortable and loved.
Being a big brother means I can make our baby feel warm and cozy. Sometimes, the baby cries, and daddy explains that babies cry to communicate with us. So, let’s see what’s the matter. Ah, it’s time to change the baby’s diaper. And it’s also time for a bottle. I’m eager to help because I am a big brother now.
Mommy and daddy show me pictures of myself when I was a baby. It’s amazing to see how little I used to be, just like our baby now. But, now I’m big. Being big comes with its perks. I can walk, talk, play with toys, and enjoy delicious treats like pizza, apples, and ice cream.
Most importantly, mommy and daddy love me deeply. I am special to them, and I’m the only me in the whole world. But being a big brother fills my heart with a new kind of special. Congratulations, Nico, on becoming a big brother! Best wishes to you, your new little brother, and your mommy and daddy. Sweet dreams to everyone until we meet again. Bye for now!
