“A King’s curiosity about his future Queen is only natural…”
Rumors of a blossoming romance between Hades, the God of the Dead, and Persephone, the spirited daughter of Demeter, have spread throughout Olympus and the Underworld. Yet while their relationship captures the attention of everyone, the two gods must confront their own individual challenges. Persephone, ever since her arrival in Olympus, has struggled to meet the lofty demands of her role as a maiden goddess. Her attraction to Hades further complicates matters, adding to the weight of the gods’ expectations. Following an assault by Apollo, Persephone finds it increasingly difficult to bury deep-seated feelings of pain and love that she has long concealed.
Concurrently, Hades grapples with his past, revisiting detrimental patterns of behavior and succumbing to the allure of Minthe. As external pressures from family, allies, and adversaries escalate, both Hades and Persephone attempt to suppress their deepest yearnings. However, the magnetic pull between them proves irresistible; it is simply their destiny.
This edition of Lore Olympus, Smythe’s original Eisner-winning webcomic, provides a contemporary and insightful take on Greek mythology within the pages of a captivating graphic novel. Brace yourself for a tumultuous ride as you explore episodes 50-75 of the renowned WEBTOON comic, currently holding the top spot.
Lore Olympus Vol. 3: A Tales of Love and Jealousy
Hello, happy Wednesday! It’s review time again. In this article, I’ll be discussing Laura Olympus Volume Three by Rachel Smythe. Let’s start with the cover, which I absolutely love. I’m giving it four stars. Now, let’s dive into the story.
This volume focuses more on Persephone as she takes on the role of an intern for Hades. She discovers that Hades is in a relationship with Mint, which makes her feel a bit jealous. She confides in Eros, and as always, there are side stories involving Zeus and other goddesses.
I will admit, I was a little disappointed that the focus shifted away from Hades. However, I believe the next volume will give us more moments with Hades and Persephone together. Nevertheless, the story continues to improve and become more engaging. I adore all the characters, especially Persephone with her ever-changing facial expressions that range from sadness to cuteness to fear. The artwork is stunning, and I particularly love the portrayal of Hecate, who works for Hades in the Underworld.
In conclusion, if you haven’t started reading the Laura Olympus series yet, I highly recommend it, especially if you have an interest in Greek mythology. Once again, Laura Olympus Volume Three by Rachel Smythe gets four stars from me. Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a great night with pleasant dreams. Until next time!
