DIY Halloween Decor: Spooky & Fun Projects in Two Books

Hi, I’m Brandi with the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, and spooky season is almost here! It’s the time when we decorate our homes with fun and scary decorations. However, these decorations can sometimes be expensive. But don’t worry, there are plenty of affordable options you can make at home.

Instead of focusing on YouTube channels and videos, today we’re talking about two fantastic books from our collection. The first book is “Artfully Halloween: 31 Frightfully Elegant Projects” published by Lark Crafts, an imprint of Sterling Publishing. This book is filled with creepy and creative ideas that you can easily recreate at home.

For example, there’s a project that uses old family photos or thrift shop finds. You can cut out the eyes and replace them with orange construction paper to create spooky pictures. Another project shows you how to make magnets using eyeballs cut out of magazines. It may not sound frightening at first, but when you stick them on your fridge, it adds a spooky touch to your kitchen.

The second book we recommend is “All You Frightly Frightfully Fun Halloween Handbook.” This book offers a little bit of everything. It’s filled with costume suggestions for kids, different pumpkin carving ideas, and various decorations for your table. The step-by-step instructions make it easy to create a cute or eerie Halloween atmosphere in your home.
