Booklist has hailed this series as “One of fantasy’s best series.” In this thrilling conclusion to the captivating trilogy that commenced with Fireborne, Annie and Lee find themselves in a desperate battle for survival – not only for themselves but for their entire home, as a menacing onslaught of dragonfire threatens to reduce everything to ash. The stage is set for a new revolution, where no one will emerge unscathed.

In New Pythos, the dragonborn have condemned Griff to an imminent execution, seething with fury at his perceived treachery. Despite having allies on both sides, determined to defy his inevitable fate, the price of his liberation might prove excessively steep. Simultaneously, Delo is confronted with a momentous choice: obey his family or finally yield to the voice of his conscience.

Meanwhile, Annie must swiftly return home and devise a meticulous plan to save her loyal Guardians and their majestic dragons. With Callipolis teetering on the precipice of collapse, and the reestablishment of the oppressive triarchy looming, Annie may possess the singular ability to salvage the city – if she can conquer her own lingering doubts about her destiny.

Lee, known for his revolutionary spirit, now confronts the challenge of waging a diplomatic struggle. Pitted against the formidable dragonborn court and a foreign princess, he finds himself torn between loyalty and personal desires. Darkness envelopes the fate of Callipolis, compelling Annie and Lee to determine the extent of their willingness to sacrifice for one another, defeat their adversaries, and reclaim their cherished homeland.

“Dragons, Love, and Revolution: Review of Fury Song by Rosaria Munda”

The third book in the Aurelian Cycle by Rosama Mundo, titled “Fury Song,” continues the story of Annie and Lee, members of a dragon-riding elite family that was almost entirely wiped out during a revolution. This book picks up where the second book left off, with Annie facing the task of saving her friends and loved ones from a villain who is holding some of them captive. In addition to battling the main antagonist, Annie must also confront members of her own fleet who have turned against her. While the previous books in the series were shorter and more enjoyable, “Fury Song” suffers from being unnecessarily long. However, if you’re tired of formulaic fantasy stories, the Aurelian Cycle offers a refreshing, character-driven narrative with the added bonus of dragons. I highly recommend it.
