Behind the Scenes: Creating my Bigger Bolder Baking Cookbook
You know, a recipe is more than just measurements. Recipes tell a story. I never imagined I would create my own cookbook. It wasn’t planned. Growing up in Ireland, food played a big role in my family. My mom was an amazing cook, and my dad worked in the wine industry. Baking was always a part of my life. I would spend my weekends and evenings making cookies and buns. Cooking seemed easy and enjoyable to me. When I went to college, I knew I wanted to work in the culinary field. I attended prestigious cooking schools in Ireland and traveled the world gaining experience as a chef. In 2008, I came to the United States, not knowing what to expect. I worked long hours as a baker in a restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. But I knew it wasn’t my long-term goal. I started my own catering business in San Francisco, cooking in people’s offices using limited equipment. It was during this time that I realized my true passion: teaching and sharing my love for food. With the support of my husband, we started our own business called “Bigger Bolder Baking.” I began hosting a cooking show online, despite my initial camera shyness. After years of building our brand and sharing recipes, I felt it was the right time to write a cookbook. The process was more complex than I anticipated. I had to choose the best recipes from my collection and recreate them for the book. Each recipe holds a story, a memory of where I was when I first made it. A recipe is more than just measurements; it tells a story. With over 100 recipes in my cookbook, I hope to share my love for baking and inspire others to create their own culinary stories.
